Attempts and cost

Attempts = 1 ÷ pass rate. Cost = fee × attempts. Payouts after funding are not counted.

The Topstep rules we simulate

Trading Combine. One phase. Profit target $3,000 (50K), $6,000 (100K) or $9,000 (150K). Maximum Loss Limit $2,000, $3,000 or $4,500: it trails your end-of-day balance up, never down, and locks for good at the starting balance. Best day at most 55% of total profit, otherwise the target rises.

Read from Topstep's help centre (Maximum Loss Limit, Consistency) on 19 October 2026. Not simulated: unrealized losses inside a trade, the optional daily loss limit (a pause, not a breach), position limits, fees. Not affiliated with Topstep.

Questions

Which Topstep rules does the calculator use?

Trading Combine 50K: $3,000 profit target and a $2,000 Maximum Loss Limit. 100K: $6,000 and $3,000. 150K: $9,000 and $4,500. The Maximum Loss Limit trails the end-of-day balance upward, never down, and locks once it reaches the starting balance. Your best day must be 55% or less of your total profit. Read from Topstep's help centre on 19 October 2026.

How does the trailing Maximum Loss Limit change the best size?

Because the floor follows your end-of-day high until it locks at the starting balance, early winning days do not buy you room the way they do with a static floor. The chart shows the pass rate at each risk size so you can see how much smaller the best size is than on a static-loss challenge.

Is the daily loss limit simulated?

No. In the Trading Combine it is optional, and hitting it pauses the rest of the day rather than failing the account. Topstep also counts unrealized losses against the Maximum Loss Limit, which the calculator checks after each closed trade, so real pass rates are a little lower.

Is this affiliated with Topstep?

No. St. Joseph Desk is independent. Rules change: check your own account's rules on Topstep's site before you trade.
